He was sitting on the window side.
He let out one hand and feeling the passing air,he
shouted, “Papa see all trees are going behind !”.

Old man smiled and admired son’s feelings.
Beside the young man a couple was sitting and listening all
the conversion between father and son.

They were little awkward with the attitude of 25
years old man behaving like a small child.

Suddenly young man again shouted, “Papa see the pond
and animals. Clouds are moving with train”.

Couple was watching the young man embarrassingly.
Now its start raining and some of water drops touches the
young man’s hand.

He gets filled with joy and he closed the eyes.
He shouted again,” Papa it’s raining, water is
touching me, see papa”.

Couple couldn’t help themselves and ask the old man.
“Why don’t you visit the Doctor and get treatment for your son.”

Old man said,”Yes, We are coming from the hospital as Today
only my son got his eye sight for the first time in his life”.

Moral: “Don’t draw conclusions until you know all the facts”.

IEEE Students Branch of Amrita is conducting a 2 day National Workshop on PIC Microcontrollers on Mar 27th and 28th, 2010.

This hands-on PIC Workshop covers the fundamentals of the PIC microcontroller family’s architecture (specifically PIC 16F87XA) and instruction set. Basic concepts are reinforced through the writing of simple assembly language programs. The knowledge gained from this class forms a solid base from which the attendee can explore more advanced concepts with the PIC microcontrollers. This Workshop also covers the basics of getting started with Microchip development tools. Hands-on exercises are conducted using the MPLAB® IDE. Attendees go through a step-by-step creation of a project, editing and compiling a program, running a program and using the MPLAB IDE. Also they learn step-by-step process of programming the PIC, debugging and verifying their assembly code in real time.

InCTF’10 is from February to March 2010 and is focused exclusively on the student community. You can participate from your own university and no travel is required. No prior exposure or experience in cyber security needed to participate.

I wondered: More often than not, this is the same case with many of us. We are limited only by our own imagination. Our abilities are endless, and so are the possibilities. I can relate to this quite well because I never thought that I could ever grasp the DSP ( Digital signal processing ), which is one of my subjects in my electronics engineering course. My seniors, my friends- everyone told me that its too tough too handle. These negative thoughts stopped me even from trying. It was only when I sat down with my DSP textbook and lamented upon it with all my concentration and the purpose clear in my mind that I began to understand the concepts. And yes! The effort was worth it as it has erased the fear that gripped me when I used to hear the 3 letters: DSP.

We are very quickly affected by the negative feelings surrounding us. But if we push hard enough, the adversities will surely surrender. And I now do believe that nothing is impossible.

I would like to quote some lines that would be really fitting in the context of my thoughts.

The last thought fits well in case of my project – ‘Multiple Distribution System Using Microcontroller’. Rajesh sir, our project guide, gave us this topic but he never told us how to achieve it. He let us do it all by ourselves. I and my teammates browsed the web for long hours to get some idea. But finally we came up with our own ingenious design. And guess what, the project paper is now going to be published in the conference proceedings of WASET International Conference of Computer and Electric Engineers in Malaysia later this month. Isn’t that amazing? We never know what lies within us.

He was shivering when he walked down the stairs because he had witnessed the brutality of riots yesterday when a group of people arrived from nowhere and started slaining people because their leader,a local politician, was murdered by people from another sect. Dhruv managed to reach hospital safely where his father was admitted. Usually Dhruv never liked to be alone but today he was relieved to see the street empty.

He had reached halfway down the street when he heard a groaning sound. He walked towards the source of the sound.It was coming from a dark opening in the street side that seemed to be a small garbage dump.

But Dhruv was startled when he saw a lady,half naked and brutally bruised,her left leg missing, lay there on a large dark spot on the ground.It was the pool of blood that had dried up. The woman wasn’t moving. She struggled as she moved her finger,trying to point something.

It took no time for Dhruv to understand that the almost 2 year old child that was hiding in the dump was her kid.The kid was unusually pale,silent and expressionless, undoubtedly because of the shock.Dhruv quickly bent over to lift the lady up. He started walking back to the hospital with the lady over his back.The child followed him silently.His focus was completely on the hospital gate which was at the far end of the street.

But Dhruv’s attention was suddenly broken when a roaring sound hit his ear drum.It was like waking up from a nightmare.But the nightmare wasn’t over yet.The sound was from the fierce group of people who looked quite intent to get their hands on the only figure of life that appeared on the streets. Dhruv collected all his strength and paced towards the gate ….but the weight of the woman was too much for a 15 year old boy to carry.The crowd was approaching like a wave that is eager to wash up the shore.Dhruv had to make a decision.He had 3 lives on stake…the child, the woman and himself. The securitymen guarding the hospital entrance were hoping the boy to do all the work himself.

Suddenly, Dhruv left the woman down on the ground and started running.A surge of mixed emotions subdued his thoughts.
Guilt – yes, fear -yes, angry -yes, helpless -yes……………..but……..

Dhruv was sprinting towards the kid who was now walking in the opposite direction.He rolled over the ground and grabbed the kid and started running towards the hospital.He was almost there when something hit him on the back.It was an axe , stuck right on his hip.He cried in agony and slipped on a rail at the hospital’s main gate.But before falling down he had swirled the kid towards the gate where the ‘BRAVE’ security men grabbed the kid.

Dhruv felt a breeze of cold air over his face amidst the clanky sounds of swords.He saw his father smiling down on him.He heard the clanks turn into a mysterious lullaby. The street was empty again.But it was not the same street anymore, it had witnessed  an act of God.

But more often than not, I’ve seen people getting confused as virtual conversations, unlike face to face talks, are little more prone to misunderstandings.People can really take you in the wrong sense as words cant express emotions (though emotIcons are a great aid but they also have got their limits).Such situations can really get worse if one of the two people has got even the slightest of ego problems.I myself have gone through such situations and I can’t tell u how hard reconciliation is !

There are also chances that someone may be spying on you while being your best online buddy- it could be your freakishly brute boss, your untrustful wife or your butt-headed head-master.So you have to be careful with that too!

Honesty on the internet is another big problem.You can’t believe in complete strangers and soaring statistics of cyber crime makes it clear that if you are way too innocent then chances are that you could end up being fooled almost 7 out of 10 times.

Though I am happy that Internet has made it easy for people like me to open up more easily and socially more active, I would really like it if I could come up the same way in real life.Thats where it really matters and thats what you should really aim at.I am ashamed to admit that it took me the help of Orkut to really get close to people around me.But I am also happy that atleast I did so in that way!!

The only hitch is that its not free.I got a trial version and that was enough for me as I dont plan to convert these image files every other day. Rather, in future, I would go for image files in .ISO format which is supported by all DVD burning softwares! But  for those of you who are really interested, it comes for a mere $ 29.95 

Dev D

Back again, blogging after almost after 2 months! You know these end semester exams – they suck the life out of you.
So, I am gonna write about none other than my favorite theme – ‘cinema n music’.
This time around, I must say that I am heavily impressed by the work of Amit Trivedi – the musician behind the Bollywood flick ‘Dev D’ –a modern retake on the classic Bengali novel- ‘Devdas’. This movie begs to differ from the dragging attire of the previous 7 movie versions ,been made and remade by different filmmakers, depicting their interpretations of the original classic by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay.The last one had Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit in the lead roles and was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
But Anurag Kashyap, the director of Dev D, stands out with a complete makeover that is very bold in nature and is highly contemporary. I happened to watch this movie only recently and I must admit that I was jolted by the brilliance of this man. The same old theme, comes wrapped up in a new fabric, and it’s the frank attitude of its storyline that surprised me the most. Combined with the brilliant performances by Abhay Deol,Mahi Gill and Kalki Koechlin in lead roles, this movie is in my favorite list now.

Sorry, as always, I got deviated from the main thing -> the music of Dev D. Man, oh man! I must confess that the music album of Dev D simply rocks, comprising of 18 tracks – all different from each other as black is to white. The album has tracks belonging to different genres – hard rock,blue,Punjabi bhangra, folk, rap, band-baja, world music & almost everything else under the Sun, all amalgamated together by an outstanding musician in Amit Trivedi . I’ve not heard this name until recently, when Rohith told me that a track from the recent movie ‘Wake up Sid’ – the song is ‘Iktara’ – is done by Amit Trivedi. The song was really nice, but after listening to the tracks of Dev D, I really got a taste of what this guy is really capable of.
Personally, my favorites are  – ‘Nayan tarase’ , ‘Pardesi’ , ’Saali Khushi’ , ‘Aankh micholi’ and the crazy smash hit ‘Emosanal atyachaar’ that has become a cult in itself. I am simply addicted to them and the reason is nothing else but the immense creativity & freshness that you can sense even if you are not that much into music. I don’t know whether everyone would be equally impressed as I am, but I am already a fan of Amit Trivedi and am looking forward to more of his work.
