The computer itself is great. I love that its compact and has plenty of battery life. The touchpad is the least annoying of any laptop I’ve ever used. The windows 7 starter operating system, however is not. its a highly abbreviated version created for emerging markets in third world countries. There’s so much lacking. you cant even put up a picture on the desktop background. Save your money and buy the XP version. I wish I did.

Do you kno that Acer is a Taiwanese IT giant which is currently No.2 in notebook sales worldwide and the No.1 netbook manufacturer…
the acer 5738 notebook has bagged many a covetted awards and great reviews in prestigious tech magazines like PC-World,Digit and Chip. I m proud to own one 🙂

it is always recommended not to go for starter versions of an OS…it would be a stripped down version with very limited capabilities…so dont sacrifice performance for little money and instead go for the home premium or ultimate version of Windows 7 (which is the best OS i’ve ever used…though supportive softwares are scarce yet,but it will overcome shortly.thanks to the gr8 PR at MIcrosoft..)….and as far as XP is concerned ,it is still very much the same versatile player,and it would be smart if you stick on to it

the best processor for me may not be the best processor for u: it depends on wat purpose is it gonna serve….
if u r merely concerned with everyday computing and don’t have hi-hf needs like gaming,animation n high resolution graphic needs then any mid range processor will do.Many people think that a ‘core2duo’ is better than a ‘dual core’ or an i5 is better than an i3 processor,but i would not comment upon it until i kno wat are the functions its gonna carry out.For everyday computing (browsing and office work/studies) i can firmly say that even a pentium 4 is as good as an i5….so choose according to your need!
